As Maya Angelou said a bird sings not because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song, which is the case with many LGBTQI who now live in diaspora.

To share one’s story is not only empowering but also therapeutic.  For many LGBTQI people who find themselves displaced and planted in foreign lands there are hit by harsh realities, which can be both crippling and exciting, either way to share these stories seems an ideal way to maintain a connection and a sense of belonging to the home ground LGBTI movements.

Diaspora Diaries is a features section  focusing on sharing, celebrating standing in solidarity. It’s not limited to activism but also realises that some people just need a  space to be themselves freely without  necessarily having to worry about being ‘politically correct ‘ all the time.
