LGBTI Activist Leilah Burns Opens Up about Using Her Talent as a Visual Artist to Impact Change

By: George Barasa

Leilah Burns as she is affectionately called within her inner circle is a visual artist that has used her talent to impact change in not only her immediate society but also the LGBTI community.

Having been rejected by some of her family members, Leilah knows firsthand the need for LGBTI people to be independent and put to use whatever skills they have to make ends meet.

With this in mind, she started a project that saw many youths in the community trained in sculpturing and visual art as a whole.

Burns lives in one of the suburbs outside Kampala where she has made a home for herself with girlfriend Aggie Ademun. The lovebirds opened their doors to Kuchu Times and took us through Leilah’s work, their life together and what the future holds for them.
