Majorie Nakimuli was born this day in 1967.she is a social worker by profession working with MARPI at Mulago National STDI/Skin unit. Majorie has been at the forefront of healthy advocacy for LGBTI and sex workers in Uganda, she has taken the lead role to sensitize other health workers from various health facilities in Uganda about health needs of these sexual minorities and combat homophobia in the health sector in Uganda. MARPI is now one of the most friendly health center in Uganda where members from the LGBTI and sex work communities do access health services without fear of being discriminated based on one’s gender and sexual orientation and all this can be attributed to Marjorie’s continued efforts to voice out health concerns for the marginalized communities both at local and international platforms. MARPI is the recipient of the most outstanding health service provider for the key affected populations award from SMUG 2015 Equality Awards.
