OVERALL PURPOSE: Assist the Program Manager conceptualize and implement programmes that will realize the key outputs and outcomes spelt out in the KELIN Strategic Plan, broad work template 2015 – 2019 as relates to Sexual Reproductive Health Rights

Background
KELIN is an independent Kenyan civil society organization working to protect and promote health-related human rights in Kenya. We do this by: Advocating for integration of human rights principles in laws, policies and administrative frameworks; facilitating access to justice in respect to violation of health related rights; training professionals & communities on rights-based approaches and initiating and participating in strategic partnerships to realize the right to health, nationally, regionally and globally.

In the implementation of our programs and related activities, we utilize a rights-based approach; prioritizing the key principles of people-centeredness, accountability, equality, and non-discrimination. By taking this approach we ensure the involvement of both the rights holders, who are not experiencing full rights, and the duty bearers who are duty bound to protect the holders’ rights.
We are looking for a Program Officer, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights to carry out the following:

Main duties and responsibilities:
Help the Program Manager SRHR in implementation and coordination of all the programmes relating to Sexual Reproductive Health Rights within the organization;
Assist in the coordination of program activities funded under the thematic area of SRHR;
Assist Program Manager SRHR in fundraising for the thematic area to ensure growth in programmatic and institutional aspects of the thematic area;
Foster good relations with donors, partners and the relevant government officials;
Help in development of annual workplans and budgeted work plans for the thematic area;
Undertake financial management of the annual program budget relating to Sexual Reproductive Health Rights including monitoring the spending levels;
Assist with the recruitment and supervision of program Associates SRHR, interns, volunteers and pro bono lawyers and any other institutional responsibilities required in line with the thematic area;
Support the development of KELIN’s publications on key and emerging sexual reproductive health rights issues;
Work with the Program Manager to ensure close collaboration with other thematic areas within the KELIN strategy;
Represent the organization in international, regional, national and county platforms.

Essential requirements:
A law degree and admission to the Bar in Kenya;
Knowledge and experience in human rights especially Sexual Reproductive health rights (SRHR);
Keen analytical ability;
Meticulous attention to detail;
Fundraising experience, including a demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with individual donors, is beneficial;
Fully computer literate – skilled and confident user of office applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and calendar applications; and
Fluent in English.
Should possess at least 3 years work experience preferably within the NGO sector
Must possess interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Results oriented, team player, willing to travel and work under pressure
