LGBTQ Ugandans and Sex Worker Communities Brush Up On Digital Security Skills.

Mbarara Rise Foundation with support from AIDS Rights Alliance-ARASA have today held digital awareness trainings in Western Uganda for both the LGBTQ and Sex worker community.

According to Mbarara Rise Foundation, the trainings are aimed at equipping participants with more knowledge, information and skills on how to effectively use digital platforms in a bid to boost participation and increase online advocacy in the post COVID-19 era of virtual meetings and trainings.

One of the participants said, “During the COVID-19 crisis, I missed out on online Zoom counseling meetings which were scheduled for HIV+ clients with health care service providers, a service I needed the most at the time. Right now after the training I feel confident to even conduct my own meetings.”

Real Raymond the Executive Director of the organisation says; “The importance of this training is to have specific individuals acquire effective digital skills like effective use of various platforms to advocate for both health and human rights and how to use these platforms safely. I hope that they will later transfer these skills to other beneficiaries.”
