Know Your Labor Rights Digital Campaign

Mend Initiative in partnership with Kuchu Times Media Group are launching the, “The Know your Labor Rights,” digital campaign for LBTQ womxn. The campaign aims to raise awareness and educate LBTQ womxn in Uganda about their labor rights and the discrimination they face in the workplace.

LBTQ womxn in Uganda face multiple layers of discrimination and marginalization, including discrimination based on their sexual orientation and gender identity. Many employers in Uganda refuse to hire LBTQ individuals or dismiss them from their jobs once their sexual orientation or gender identity is revealed. This campaign aims to empower LBTQ womxn by providing them with the knowledge and tools they need to assert their rights in the workplace and fight against discrimination.

The campaign is primarily focused on digital outreach and utilizes a variety of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, Youtube to disseminate information and engage with LBTQ womxn in Uganda. The campaign’s online presence includes informational graphics, videos, and articles that provide LBTQ womxn with a comprehensive understanding of their rights and the resources available to them.

The Mend Initiative and Kuchu Times Media Group have also partnered with local LGBTQ organizations and community leaders to organize lived realities session sharing for LBTQ womxn in Uganda. These sessions provide participants with a safe space to discuss their experiences and learn about their legal rights, including the right to equal pay, protection from discrimination, and the right to safe working conditions, the campaign aims to create a more equitable and just society for all LBTQ individuals in Uganda.
