The Core Group of seven Latin American countries – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Uruguay – and 41 additional countries jointly presented the text. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 23 in favor, 18 against and 6 abstentions.
During these two days, a total of seventeen contestants took part in the auditions, twelve on the Miss Pride ticket and five on the Mr Pride ticket. All the Mr Pride competitors made it through to the final. Out of the twelve that auditioned in the hope to eventually be crowned the 2016 Miss Pride, seven made it to the finals and five were relegated.
For many MSM, Uganda’s HIV epidemic brings with it significant social burdens. A pervading social stigma and high levels of homophobic violence caused by enduring conservative attitudes, result in MSM feeling less inclined to access HIV services. Only 44% of MSM living with HIV have ever been tested for the virus and know their results according to some surveys
