“Today we honor the human rights of all people in their diversity and encourage everyone to stand up for human rights by ending discrimination and addressing inequalities in order to ensure a world where human rights of all persons are respected.” Says a statement from Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum.

This year the day is being marked under the theme “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.”

This day is observed to promote equality, peace, justice, freedom and the protection of human dignity. Every individual is entitled to rights irrespective of race, colour, religion, sex, language, or social status.
