This edition under the theme, “The Power Of Ally Ship” is aimed at portraying the experiences our allies go through in their work as advocates for the human rights of LGBTIQ people in Uganda.
We want to deliberate on how religious leaders can appreciate diversity and be advocates of human rights for all within their congregations as we fellowship together. We also want to tell people that it’s okay to be who you are and our duty should be to love one another despite of who we are as individuals.
Many international journalists come to this country, Uganda, make us re-live our trauma by telling them our stories that they never publish.
When it came to the edition that focused on Lesbian, Bisexual and Queer women, hell broke loose because male parliamentarians and politicians were arguing.
Reading stories for and by queer persons gave me a lot of pride and hope.
We need the president to revise this bill according to certain very specific lines that we had asked and not just send it back to parliament.
