Youth on Rock Foundation a community based organisation that serves LGBTI and sex workers in various slums of Kampala gathered its membership and allies gathered at MARPI- Mulago to commemorate World AIDS Day.
The day’s events focused on the 90.90.90 strategy by 2020, an ambitious treatment target to help end the AIDS epidemic by 2020 with 90% of all people living with HIV knowing their HIV status and 90% of all people diagnosed with HIV infection receiving sustained anti retroviral therapy.
Ice Breakers Uganda also held a community gathering where they continued to urge the gender and sexual minority community to make full use of the services that are freely available to them as well as prioritise their health by practicing safe sex and testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases regularly.
They also had a candle lighting ceremony to remember those who have lost their lives to the HIV scourge.
Both events were held under the 2017 global World AIDS Day theme, “Increasing I Impact through Transparency, Accountability and Partnership”.
