Out and Proud Diamond Group (OPDG), an LGBTI organization based in the United Kingdom founded by Ugandans who had to flee their homeland due to their sexual orientation and gender identity has been nominated for one of UK’s most prestigious award.

Monitoring Consortium Releases Report on Rights Violations

On the 23rd of July 2015 the Uganda Consortium on Monitoring Violations Based on Sex Determination launched its 2015 report of violations based on gender identity and sexual orientation at Imperial Royale Kampala. The launch was attended by dignitaries from different diplomatic missions and members of the civil society. The report was motivated by the conviction that no violations of rights or dignity based upon an individual’s actual or perceived sex, gender identity and sexual orientation should go undocumented or acknowledged. The report covers the period of 2014.

Just weeks after gracing the cover of Times Magazine and making history as the first African to be a grand marshal at the recently concluded New York Pride, Uganda gay rights’ activists Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera appeared on GAY USA .

She addressed the current status of the Ugandan law in regard to LGBTI persons and her role in the fight for equality.

After weeks of expectancy from the community, the organisers of the 2015 Uganda Pride have finally released the official program for the week long event. This year’s Pride which is scheduled for 5th-9th August will kick off with a cocktail which will serve as the official meet and greet session for community members as well as the acknowledgement of the Pride coordinating team.
