YOUTH UPLIFT UGANDA an LGBTIQ non-profit organisation has put together an event, Prom Nyt Party, to help raise financial support for the Ugandan LGBTI refugees in Kenya. The vent which is also meant to empower all those who have been forced to flee Uganda based on either their gender identity or sexual orientation will be held on 5th December 2015.

On 1st October the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera was among the 4 persons to receive the 2015 Right Livelihood Award commonly referred to as the “Alternative Nobel prize”.
Adebayor Chris is most known in Uganda’s Lesbian Gay Transgender Bisexual and Intersex community as the 2015 winner of the Mr. Pride Contest. Having spent an afternoon with the recent graduate, I walked away with the impression that this young man was destined for greatness; his humility, love for service and selflessness all stood out as he talked to the Kuchu Times team about his plans for his tenure and life as a transgender man in Uganda.
Kuchu Times would like to thank everyone who has so graciously donated to the campaign aimed at raising funds for the publication of the second issue of Bombastic Magazine. The campaign which was intended to raise $5,000 went over and beyond and racked in $8, 296.
Of Nelson Mandela’s many wise sayings, one of my favorite is the old maxim: “Where you stand depends on where you sit.” Since we are also talking about sexuality, I would add that where you stand also depends on where (and how) you sleep. Hence the title of my presentation today: Standing, Sitting and Sleeping.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is conducted as a merit-based open competition. After the deadline, all eligible applications will be reviewed by a selection panel. Chosen semifinalists will be interviewed by the U.S. embassies or consulates in their home countries
Kuchu Times founder and human rights activist Kasha Jaqueline Nabagesera has today October 1st been awarded the Right Livelihood Award. The 34 year old activist was recognized for her work in the struggle for equality for Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) persons.
