Bombastic 3rd Edition Launched

Kuchu Times Media Group (KTMG) is delighted to launch the third edition of Bombastic Magazine. Today’s media continues to shy away from queer narratives, and even misrepresents sexual and gender minorities; Bombastic Magazine therefore serves as a s a beacon of hope and a symbol of our resilience and continued effort in “Reclaiming Media” by amplifying queer voice in telling of their LGBTI stories. The Magazine is an anthology of stories, poems, and testimonies on varied topics including but not limited to religion, culture and health, told by the sexual and gender minority community in Uganda.

Kasha Nabagesera: The face of Uganda’s LGBT movement

Ugandan feminist and human rights defender Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera has been featured in a CNN series titled HER. Kasha appears in the series as one of seven women that have tirelessly worked towards creating a safer and equal world for women.
The digital series which has been compiled in celebration of the International Women Day (8th March) sees a fearless woman represent each of the seven continents- with Kasha representing Africa.

She has been lynched and left for dead; in fact she still breathes with difficulty, the people she once called her friends have betrayed and deserted her, she has sought refuge from one home to another but all this is nothing compared to the fierce and strong spirit she continues to exhibit.

‘BECAUSE I AM’ – A SHORT FILM UNCOVERING THE IMPACT OF HOMOPHOBIA IN ZIMBABWE

. After consistent homophobic speeches over the years Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe went off script during a speech at the UN General assembly in September 2015 to “reject new rights” and declare “we are not gays” to both muted laughter and applause. This is an indication of the wide spread view in Zimbabwe and many other African countries that the LGBT community does not deserve in basic human rights, leading to hate crimes and harassment across the nation.
