Ugandan LGBTI refugees from Kakuma camp and parts of Nairobi Kenya protested outside the UNHCR offices in the Nairobi capital of Kenya on Wednesday the 11th of March and delivered a set of demands.The protest turned rowdy when UNHCR staff called police who dispersed the refugees.

Uganda has made significant strides in the struggle to respect, promote and protect women’s rights. This is especially evident in its legal framework, which is all encompassing and gender neutral. However although the laws recognise the need to protect women’s rights, their implementation breeds a different result. Many laws that appear gender neutral on the books are actually implemented discriminatively against the women. This is as a result of failure for the legislature to address the embedded, institutionalised and structural gender inequalities that have been caused by decades of gender discrimination and marginalisation.
HRAPF is an independent, non-partisan, Non- Governmental organisation registered under the laws of Uganda. HRAPF is specifically interested in human rights awareness, promotion, protection and advocacy in favour of the most marginalised persons in Uganda. To achieve these objectives, HRAPF employs legal and policy analysis, legal research and strategic litigation. HRAPF also works closely with like-minded organisations to achieve its objectives.
